"Of Horse Girls and Honeysuckles" published!

My first flash fiction piece, "Of Horse Girls and Honeysuckles", is published in The Blotter Magazine's December 2024 issue! What's flash fiction, you might ask? It's a prose piece under 1,000 words, so just not quite long enough to be considered a short story.

The Blotter is a regional nonprofit journal that distributes their issues to libraries in the American South, and they make all of their issues available for free online. That means you can read the issue in full via this link: http://blotterrag.com/pdfs/2024-12.pdf .

I personally would love to have some print issues for my own shelf, so I will be asking the editorial staff how to coordinate that. The Blotter runs primarily on their subscription network, so ordering copies of a specific issue might be a circuitous route. I'll be sure to update my website and Instagram @thecatandtheleaf on how readers can order print copies of this issue, so stay tuned if you're interested in that!

The writing of this piece was informed by growing up in North Carolina, playground adventures, horseback riding, and my queer identity. If you're in the mood for childhood magic, horse girls, and unrequited lesbian romance, then "Of Horse Girls and Honeysuckles" is here for you.
